How to play

Little Rain Cloud is a single player, place value game that helps visually teach place value.

Grow a garden full of plants using the help of the Little Rain Clouds. Each cloud contains an amount of water which can be altered by changing a number’s place value. Each plant has a required amount of water it needs to grow. Match the water and see the plants grow.

Here's what to do:

  1. Read the plant(s) requirement(s)
  2. Alter the water in the cloud to fulfil the plants requirements
    1. The numbers attached to the clouds represent the water in the cloud
    2. The place value of these numbers can be changed
    3. Click and drag these numbers to alter their position
    4. Note: Numbers can be moved between clouds
  3. Click on the cloud’s face to water the plants
  4. If correct, watch the plant grow
  5. Repeat for the rest of the level

Mathematical Thinking

Little Rain Cloud focuses on teaching place value visually.

Each cloud has a water gauge which is a visual representation of the numbers value. Altering the place value of the numbers alters how much water the cloud has, which can visually be seen by the increase/ decrease in water in the gauge.
